The beam (6) has two metallic hollow bodies (7, 8), and two opposite ends (6a), where each end is fixed against a front shock absorber (10). The ends comprise respective reversible energy absorbing inserts (11, 12) placed inside the beam in an area located relative to the shock absorber. The hollow bodies are connected together by a sheet wall (9), which is directed towards the front of a motor vehicle. Length of each insert is equal to length of the area located relative to the shock absorber.
