The device (SG1) has a mass determination device (10) for determining a mass size that represents a vehicle mass, where the mass measurement device is utilized as a part of a vehicle dynamics control system i.e. electronic stability control system. The determined mass size is used to monitor the load on an axle of the vehicle. Multiple monitoring units (11-13) generate respective monitoring signals (S2-S4) depending on the mass size, where the monitoring signals indicate a change of the vehicle mass while driving. One of the monitoring signals represents a load loss in the vehicle.
