<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a new gene for controlling the seed dormancy of a plant; a method for controlling the seed dormancy of the plant by utilizing the gene; and a method for detecting the ear germination of a target plant. <P>SOLUTION: At first a base sequence of Sdr4 being an ear germination-resistant gene are successfully isolated and identified by utilizing a map base cloning method. It is also confirmed that the Sdr4 of "Nipponbare", a type of rice, has a germination inhibition capability through a complementary test, a functional analysis with a knockdown lineage, and an isolation of a mutant. As a result of search of gene of Arabidopsis thaliana having a high homology with a rice plant Sdr4 gene, it is found out that AtSdr4L1 having the highest homology has a function for controlling the germination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
