TITANIUM CONTAINING POWDER, EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT CATALYST, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING TITANIUM CONTAINING POWDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanium containing powder or the like for a honeycomb exhaust gas treatment catalyst which has excellent moldability, high wear resistance and is small in the decrease in a specific surface area after firing.

SOLUTION: The titanium containing powder for a raw material for the honeycomb exhaust gas treatment catalyst contains at least one of titanium dioxide and a titanium composite oxide and possesses that (a) 0.03-0.5 mass% phosphorus as P2O5is incorporated, (b) the crystallite diameter of anatase type crystal plane (101) is 12-40 nm (1) when the titanium containing powder contains only titanium dioxide and is 10-38 nm (2) when the titanium containing powder contains the titanium composite oxide and (c) 0.4-4.0 mass% sulfate radical is incorporated.
