<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system, an authentication method, and a program capable of letting an input person know wrong input of a password before the input is fixed and capable of increasing security. <P>SOLUTION: When a user ID is input, an authentication server 10 extracts a password and a display object which are associated with the user ID and generates display object identification information that is capable of identifying a hash value of the extracted password and the extracted display object. A client terminal 20 displays a password input screen after accepting an input of the user ID, and calculates a hash value by using input characters every time when a character is input or deleted on the screen. Then, it is determined whether the hash value identified by the display object identification information and the calculated hash value are matched. When they are matched, the display object identified by the display object identification information is displayed on the password input screen.
