<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair cosmetic not sticky after being dried when applied onto hair, giving tension/stiffness and moisture to the hair to achieve glossy hair, and further giving to the hair a smooth feeling without creaking together with a settled feeling. <P>SOLUTION: This hair cosmetic includes (A) a 0.4-4 mass% quaternary ammonium salt represented by formula 1, (B) a 1-8 mass% 14C-22C linear alcohol, (C) 0.5-8 mass% glycosyl trehalose, and (D) a 0.3-5 mass% polyalkylene glycol derivative represented by formula 2. (In the formula 1, R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>represents a 16C-24C linear alkyl group, R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>represents a 16C-24C linear alkyl group, a 1C-3C alkyl group or hydroxyalkyl group, R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>represent each independently a 1C-3C alkyl group or hydroxyalkyl group, and X represents a halogen atom).
