<p>Disclosed are an electronic device and a method for updating software thereof. The electronic device includes: a communication unit which includes predetermined software needed for communicating with an exterior; a first storage which stores user information set up in the electronic device; a user input unit; and a controller which updates the software with an update file needed for updating the software and sets up the stored user information again in the communication unit if receiving update instruction for the software through the user input unit.</p>
