One or more aspects of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in one or more methods that include receiving a request to provide for installation of a software application on a target computer, where the software application requires for operation an application execution environment program including a cross-platform application program interface to provide services to applications that run in the application execution environment; and providing installation of both the software application and the application execution environment program in an installation sequence when the target computer lacks the application execution environment program; wherein the installation of the software application and the application execution environment program are tied together as a single installation transaction, such that they succeed or fail together. |
