Provided are an audio system, etc., with which it is possible to automatically obtain optimal ambience characteristics without interfering with the listening of a listener, even if the auditioning environment changes. An audio system (SY) comprises an audio device (1), speakers (3), and a microphone (42) which collects speaker output sound. The audio device (1) further comprises: a compensation value storage unit (12) which stores a compensation value for ambience compensation; a compensation processing unit (36) which compensates a sound signal with the compensation value; a compensated sound signal storage unit (35) which stores the compensated sound signal which is compensated; a compensated sound signal output unit (15) which outputs the compensated sound signal to the speakers (3); a collected sound signal receiving unit (16) which receives a collected sound signal which is the compensated sound signal which is outputted from the speakers (3) and which is collected with the microphone (42); and a compensation value computation unit (31) which computes the degree of change of the audio characteristics between the stored compensation sound signal and the collected sound signal as a recompensation value. The compensation processing unit (36) compensates the sound signal on the basis of the recompensation value.
