ANNEXIN V FOR PREVENTING ATHEROTHROMBOSIS AND PLAQUE RUPTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method for factors leading to rupture of atherosclerotic plaques.

SOLUTION: There is provided a purified subfraction of a pooled immunoglobulin with the capacity to inhibit antibodies binding to annexin V or use of a purified subfraction of a pooled immunoglobulin with the capacity to promote binding of annexin V to endothelium in the production of a pharmaceutical composition to prevent plaque rupture in human. There is provided a method for preventing atherothrombosis by use of annexin V, N-terminal fragment or immunoglobulin to increase the annexin V-binding to carotid plaque.
