Thermoplastic polymers, at least one of which is crystalline polypropylene, are joined by placing a resistance wire between the polymers, heating the wire by an electric current to a temperature sufficient to melt the polypropylene adjacent the wire, and then allowing to cool, the wire remaining embedded in the joined materials. Sheets and pipes or tubes may be joined by the method specified. |
