[Also in Groups XXV and XXX] The various fabric parts of a garment are held by clips 5, suspended from runners 6 on a rail 3, so that the fabric can be moved from the location of one manufacturing operation to another. Fig. 1 shows the rail of Fig. 2 extending over three tables 1 each carrying a sewing machine 2. The rail may be in the form of a closed loop supported by free-standing floor standards and may be sectional. In another arrangement the rail is divided so that the runners can travel along either branch. The fabric is normally released from the clip for the performance of the manufacturing operation but some operations are carried out without removing the fabric from the clip. |
