<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device capable of preventing degradation of image quality by favorably removing unnecessary light other than light reflected from fine mirrors and heading for a projection unit. <P>SOLUTION: A projector includes a DMD 700 for modulating light from a light source lamp 100, and a projection lens 30 for projecting the light modulated by the DMD 700 onto a projection surface. The DMD 700 includes a plurality of movable fine mirrors 710, and cover glass 720 with light transmissivity for covering the fine mirrors 710. The projector further includes a TIR prism 600 for guiding the light from the light source lamp 100 to the DMD 700. Provided to a second prism 620 of the TIR prism 600 is a fifth lateral surface 622 for transmitting the light reflected from the fine mirrors 710 and heading for the projection lens 30 and reflecting the light reflected from the cover glass 720 and heading for a direction apart from an incident surface 30a of the projection lens 30. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
