A solar air source heat pump system comprises a solar thermal system (21) and an air source heat pump system (22). The solar thermal system (21) comprises tubing providing a heat transfer fluid circuit (16), a solar thermal collector (13, 23) where the heat transfer fluid absorbs solar energy, a storage tank (25) for storing the heat transfer fluid, and a controller (31) for controlling the solar thermal system. The air source heat pump system (22) comprises tubing providing a refrigerant circuit (18), a compressor (27) for compressing the refrigerant, a condenser (28) for cooling the refrigerant, an expansion device (29) configured to reduce the pressure of the refrigerant, and an evaporator (26) where the refrigerant is evaporated. At least part of the tubing for the refrigerant circuit (18) is located within the solar thermal collector (13, 23). |
