PURPOSE: A method for controlling an electric vehicle is provided to minimize the irregular change of deceleration in case of braking of the electric vehicle by controlling the generating amount of creep torque. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an electric vehicle includes the following: whether an electric vehicle is entered into a braking state is confirmed(100); creep torque from a motor is lowered below a standard value if the electric vehicle is in the braking state(110); the regenerative braking operation of the electric vehicle is implemented if the creep torque is lower than the standard value(120); the braking operation of the electric vehicle is implemented(130); and the creep torque is restored to pre-set values speed segments if the braking operation is stopped(140).
