<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera module that includes a contaminant trap for collecting contaminants that may enter the camera module. <P>SOLUTION: The camera module includes an image capture device 108, a lens unit 114 including a body, and a housing 112 including an opening 208 for receiving the lens unit 114 and positioning the lens unit 114 with respect to the image capture device 108. An isolated annular space between the lens unit 114 and the opening 208 of the housing 112 collects and contains any contaminants before the contaminants reach vulnerable components such as the image capture device 108 and/or other optical components within the camera module. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
