A ballast hopper wagon includes a chassis, a side wall, a head wall, discharge doors (20), a coupler buffer unit, a bogie, a bottom door switching mechanism, a chassis appurtenance, a wind braking device and a wind controlling system. The wind controlling system includes a wind store cylinder (11) and a discharge doors controlling system. The discharge doors controlling system is used for controlling the operation state of the discharge doors of the ballast hopper wagon. The ballast hopper wagon increases the efficiency of discharging and reduces the workload of operators.
