PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable displaying, on a display, of optimal contents responsively to a wait time such as in switching of screens so as to provide information useful to a user during the wait time when switching the screen displays.

SOLUTION: A video display device includes: a display part 20 for displaying video information; a display screen generation part 133 for generating plural pieces of screen information for use in a wait time; a process time calculation part 124 for calculating process time wt required for a process when detecting a command to specify the process accompanying the wait time for displaying on the display part 20; and a display screen control part 134 for selecting screen information in accordance with the process time wt. The display screen generation part 133 generates both first screen information for a short-time use and second screen information for a long-time use from a specified content. The display screen control part 134 compares between the process time wt and reference time T and selects the first screen information in the case of wt≤T, or selects the second screen information in the case of wt>T.
