<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and driving method able to reduce power consumption in a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The display device comprises: a display part having signal lines and scan lines arranged in a matrix, and a pixel circuit arranged at places where the signal lines and scan lines intersect; a scan line drive part that applies scan signals to the scan lines; a signal line drive part that applies data signals to the signal lines; and a counter electrode drive part that drives a counter electrode. The pixel circuit includes: a first switching element whose first terminal is connected to each of the signal lines and conducts selectively according to the logical level of a scan signal applied to a gate terminal; a liquid crystal capacity formed between a pixel electrode connected to a second terminal of the first switching element and the counter electrode; a holding capacity formed between the pixel electrode and counter electrode; and a second switching element that conducts according to the logical level of a first charge sharing drive signal applied to the gate terminal and selectively brings both ends of the holding capacity into a short circuit condition with respect to the counter electrodes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
