<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a playing system such that accompaniment sequence data are registered to a plurality of switches and a desired accompaniment sequence is selected through switch operation to make a practice. <P>SOLUTION: The system registers one of a plurality of accompaniment sequence data AS:○○○-1, ○○○-2, ... ΔΔΔ1, ..., including temporary stop information ST to one of a plurality of switches Sw1 to Sw4, selects and reproduces desired sequence data AS in response to operation of a switch Sw, stops the reproduction when the temporary stop information ST is read out during the reproduction, and restarts the reproduction in response to temporary stop cancel operation. In sequence data AS of each switch Sw, ON/OFF information (FS=ON/OFF) for a temporary stop function is registered to make effective/ineffective the temporary stop function based upon the temporary stop information ST.
