APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CALCULATING AVERAGE SLOPE OF RAIL ROAD

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for calculating the average slope of a rail road are provided to determine the average slope of a rail road by comparing front and rear average slopes obtained from the current and stop positions of a railway vehicle with a reference average slope. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for calculating the average slope of a rail road calculates the average slope of a rail road during traveling of a railway vehicle. The apparatus comprises a current position calculating unit(110) which calculates the current position of a railway vehicle using information transmitted from on-board signal devices installed in the railway vehicle, a stop position determining unit(120) which determines a position of the railway vehicle to stop, and an average slope calculating unit(130) which calculates the average slope of the railway vehicle using front and rear average slopes obtained from the current and stop positions of the railway vehicle.
