PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for local dimming, apparatus and method for driving of liquid crystal display device using the same are provided to reduce power consumption by differentiating dimming value of focus and non-focus areas through analysis of an input image. CONSTITUTION: A memory unit(110) stores input data in frame unit. A dimming value output unit(120) produces dimming values according to each block to set up luminance of a back light block. A gain value generating unit(130) produces a gain value of each block by detecting a focus area. A dimming value correcting unit(140) corrects dimming value of each block by reflecting a gain value of each block to the dimming value of the each block. A data correcting unit(150) corrects input data of each pixel with marking block unit based on a corrected dimming value of each block.
