The objective of the present invention is to provide: a vinylidene-fluoride-based copolymer having adhesiveness to metal foils that is superior to that of conventional vinylidene-fluoride-based copolymers; and an application of the vinylidene-fluoride-based copolymer. The vinylidene-fluoride-based copolymer is obtained by the copolymerization of vinylidene fluoride and the compound represented by formula (A). In formula (A): R1, R2, and R3 each independently is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, or an alkyl group; and X is a heteroatom or a group of atoms that has a molecular weight of no greater than 500, contains a heteroatom, and has a primary chain configured from 1-20 atoms.
