The device (1) i.e. steam cleaner, has a pot-shaped storage container (4) separable from a heating device for using the device and exhibiting volume in range between 50 ml and 500 ml. Overpressure is generated in the storage container according to a valve that is arranged upstream to an exhaust nozzle (13) that is designed as an atomizing nozzle. The valve is manually operable for delivering water and/or steam, where the water is movable with a cleaning agent. The heating device is designed as an electrical resistance heater. An independent claim is also included for a method for steam cleaning of objects with a hand-held device.
