<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a kiln for treating a used catalyst, by which in a roasting furnace performing a soda roasting of a waste catalyst or the like, a suitable soda making reaction can be generated. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for operating the kiln for treating the used catalyst, a material to be treated, containing valuable metal, oily content, nonvolatile carbonized content and sulfur content, is roasted together with an alkali-metal compound. The roasting furnace is the countercurrent flow type kiln, and is controlled so that, from a supplying side end part toward an exhausting side end part, in an oil removal treating zone Z1 for performing the oil removal treatment of the material to be treated, a carbon and sulfur removing zone Z2 for producing the material to be treated after removing the sulfur by performing the removal treatment of the carbon and the sulfur from the material to be treated from which oil has removed, and a soda making reaction zone Z3 for performing the soda making reaction treatment to the valuable metal, the furnace temperature in the soda making reaction zone Z3 is maintained in the range of 950-1,100°C and the furnace temperature at the intermediate position between the exhausting side end part and the soda making reaction zone Z3 is maintained in the range of 100-900°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
