<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing normal operation even when toner level is lower than a detectable range of a sensor even when a starter cartridge containing a small amount of toner is supplied to a user as a cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus of the invention includes calculation means configured so that, when cartridge detection means detects that a cartridge is a virgin cartridge and when toner remaining detection means detects that the toner level is lower than a first predetermined level, calculates possible image forming quantity based on a possible image forming quantity using the first predetermined amount of toner, a possible image forming quantity using the difference amount of toner between the first predetermined amount and a second predetermined amount and an image forming quantity counted by counting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
