<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record an image with an appropriate white degree without changing recording sheets. <P>SOLUTION: A fluorescent whitening agent addition amount determination unit 110 determines the amount of a fluorescent whitening agent to be added to a recording paper on the basis of illumination light information input by an illumination light information input unit 107, recording sheet information input by a recording sheet information input unit 108 and whiteness setting information input by a whiteness setting unit 109.
