USING USER PROFILES COMPRISING GEOGRAPHIC AND/OR TEMPORAL WIRELESS RESOURCE USAGE PATTERNS FOR MULTI-TIER BILLING PLAN OFFERINGS, CALL ADMISSION, OR CAPACITY PLANNING
摘要
The present application relates to wireless communication systems in which each user's resource usage is measured and statistically analysed such that user profiles are formed which are stored in a tracking database (300). These profiles are used for defining multi-tier billing plans, in call admission and for resource capacity planning. Conventional multi-tier billing plans are not adapted neither to location nor to resource usage patterns and the application proposes to provide a billing plan which is tailored to each user's geographic and/or temporal wireless resource usage patterns. Whereas conventional admission control algorithms typically assume a worst -case resource margin and thereby tend to overestimate the resources required to support requested calls, the application proposes to estimate the resource margin from the user profiles. The combination of a plurality of profiles can also be used to predict network capacity problems.
