Provided is a spiral separation membrane element (2) inserted inside a cylindrical pressure container (7), comprising: a laminate (22) that includes a separation membrane and a flow path material and is wound around a central tube (21); and a pair of end members (3) fixed to both end sections of the central tube (21) so as to interpose the laminate (22) therebetween. One of the pair of end members (3) has an annular seal member (5) attached thereto. A rotating body that protrudes from the outer circumferential surfaces of each of the pair of end members (3) and is able to be rolled in at least the shaft direction of the central tube (21) is attached to the outer circumferential surface of each of the pair of end members (3).
