The present invention provides a water consumption transaction system and method. In one embodiment, a water consumption transaction unit receives fresh water from an utility service provider water supply unit and meters the volume of the water received from the utility service provider. Further, the water consumption transaction unit recycles waste water collected from a premise of a customer and returns the recycled water to the utility service provider water supply unit. The water consumption transaction unit meters the volume of recycled water returned to the utility service provider. The water consumption transaction unit then determines the volume of water consumed by the consumer based on the volume of water received and the volume of water returned to the utility service provider. Accordingly, the backend server computes a charge associated with the customer based on the volume of water consumed by the consumer. |
