[Also in Divisions B7, E2 and F1] A safety steering locking device for a motor vehicle includes a key-operated cylinder lock having an extension 35 which engages switch 39. The switch 39 comprises a rotatable cam 90 which is biased by a spring 91 into one rotatable position. The cam 90 carries a pin 92 which supports a contact bridge 94 the contacts 95 being biased by a spring 93 against fixed contacts 96a, 96b or 96c. The cam 90 is secured to the lock extension 35 and its position in relation to the fixed contacts is arranged so that only in DRIVE and START positions are the appropriate contacts made. The spring 93 automatically rotates the contact bridge from the START position to the DRIVE position when the key or a knob is released. |
