[Also in Division H2] An electrode holder for arc welding comprises a member 46 having a hole 49 through which is threaded the electrode, part of the member having an axial bore 47 and another part a slot 38, the bore and slot accommodating an electrode clamping member 50. In assembly an internally threaded hexagonal sleeve with the clamping member 50 screwed therein is threaded over the arms 34, 35 bounding the slot 38 with the part 52 of the clamping member in the slot and the part 50 in the bore 47, a further sleeve 20 then being screwed on to the threaded portions 33, 33<SP>1</SP> of the arms 34, 35, the threads being such that as the sleeve 20 is screwed on the arms 34, 35 are forced together so as to clamp an extension 32 of a connecting piece 28. The supply cable is connected thereto by spreading the conductor strands around the piece 28 and clamping them thereto by means of a nut 27 which screws into the sleeve 20. The holder is provided with an insulating cover in the form of two relatively rotatable parts 73, 77, rotation of the part 77 causing rotation of the sleeve 60 whereby the clamping member 50 is caused to move along the bore 47 to clamp the electrode in the hole 49.</p> |
