PURPOSE: A system and method of monitoring a leak for vehicles are provided to improve the performance of diagnosing a leak as a section of monitoring the leak is expanded. CONSTITUTION: A system of monitoring a leak for vehicles comprises a decompression control unit, a traveling judging unit, and a leak monitoring unit. The decompression control unit controls the pressure inside a fuel tank through opening and closing a purge valve. The traveling judging unit confirms the driving condition of the vehicles by sensing a speed and monitoring a throttle valve. The leak monitoring unit calculates a leak size in a set condition based on controlled negative pressure and the driving condition. The leak monitoring unit controls the negative pressure in the fuel tank through controlling the decompression control unit in an idle section and a driving section after starting the vehicles.
