PURPOSE: A handover setting method and an apparatus thereof in a wireless communication system are provided to determine a type of a target base station in handover and to perform handover signaling according to the determined type. CONSTITUTION: A source eNB(evolved-NodeB) receives system information of a target BS from a terminal(S510). The system information of the target BS includes a cell type indicator for indicating a cell type of a femto cell, a macro cell, or a pico cell. The base station determines the cell type of the target base station based on the system information(S520). The BS transmits a handover related message to the terminal(S530).
