Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and device for establishing a backup path, and a method and device for selecting a backup path. The method comprises: a first node in a first Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) domain receiving, through a main path, a response message of successful main path establishment returned by a second node in a second IGP domain; the first node acquiring path information of the main path from the response message of successful main path establishment, the path information of the main path at least comprising shared risk link group information of links forming the main path; the first node establishing a backup path between the first node and the second node according to the path information of the main path, wherein shared risk link group information of links of the backup path is different from the shared risk link group information of the links forming the main path. The technical solution according to the embodiments of the present invention supports acquisition of the optimal backup path in a cross-IGP domain scenario, and is capable of effectively reducing risks of failures in the cross-IGP domain scenario, thereby effectively improving data security of customers.
