The arc chute 1 of a circuit-breaker with magnetic blow-out coil 6 has a plurality of metallic plates 7 to divide the arc, each of which is provided with a voltage control capacitor 9 connected between adjacent plates. The capacitors 9 consist of pairs of parallel plates embedded in insulating extensions 8 of the plates 7 which extensions may be attached to the plates by removable plug and socket connections. In an alternative form (Fig. 3, not shown) the arc chute is of the type having a plurality of insulating plates each supporting a V-shaped arc dividing electrode, the capacitors being embedded in further insulating plates positioned between the outer ends of the plates of the chute to act as coolers. |
