<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image display device capable of displaying a multi-viewpoint stereoscopic image that has no time difference between the right and left images and that has a high resolution. <P>SOLUTION: A stereoscopic image display device comprises: a flat display panel in which pixels are arranged in the form of a matrix and in which an image corresponding to each of a plurality of view points is sequentially formed by time-division drive so that the flat display panel corresponds to the plurality of view points in a plurality of directions, optical means disposed on the front side of the flat display panel, polarizing glasses that a viewer wears, and a control device that controls the image formation at the flat display panel and the light transmission through the polarizing glasses. The flat display panel comprises a first image forming area that forms an image for the right eye and a second image forming area that forms an image for the left eye. In the optical means, a first polarizing area and a second polarizing area are arranged so as to correspond to the first image forming area and the second image forming area in position and size. The polarizing glasses are so designed as to select between transmission and shield of images projected from the first and second polarizing areas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
