<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter medium that hardly frays (i.e., a hairly filament hardly falls off), is easy to capture suspended matter, and has a high efficiency for capturing suspended matter. <P>SOLUTION: The filter medium 26 is characterized in that a fusible core yarn 20 and a fusible pressing yarn 21 are twisted together to hold hairy filaments 22a therebetween.
