<p>The measurement instrument (2) comprises: - a support (4) exhibiting a bearing face (8) defining a plane, - a gauge (40) mounted slideably on the support so that a free end (43) of the gauge is able to intercept the plane some distance from the bearing face with the bearing face lying on one side only of the gauge, and - a member (54) able to measure a distance between the free end and the plane, whether the gauge lies short of or beyond the plane.
