<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent plastic deformation from occurring particularly in an area that extends from a corner part of a cutting edge to an opposite side of a feed direction in medium cutting of hard-to-cut materials such as stainless steel, thereby efficiently performing high-accuracy cutting over a long period. <P>SOLUTION: The cutting edge (5) is formed on a ridge part where a rake face (2) and a flank (3) of an insert body (1) intersect, the cutting edge (5) being provided with the corner part (6) forming a convex arc shape in a plan view as viewed from a direction opposed to the rake face (2), and a pair of linear parts (7) extending linearly in contact with both ends of the corner part (6). The cutting edge (5) includes a first region (A) along the corner part (6), second regions (B) along the linear parts (7), and third regions (C) positioned therebetween. A cross-sectional area of the insert body (1) in a cross part orthogonal to the cutting edge (5) in a width range of a radius R (mm) of the corner part (6), from the cutting edge (5) perpendicularly toward the inside of the rake face (2), is made the largest in the third regions (C), the smallest in the second regions (B), and medium in size in the first region (A). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
