The method involves arranging sensors (9-1-9-6) of a sensor assembly (1) along movement axis (3) of a measuring object (2). A two-dimensional field (15) is created between the sensors and object by a field generator (16). The sensor signals indicating position of the object are obtained from the sensors and difference signals indicating difference between the sensor signals of each sensor pair is calculated. The difference signals are interpolated to determine position information of the object. An independent claim is included for sensor assembly. |
