<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for dyeing animal fiber, free from any problem involving environmental pollution, and intended for obtaining well-designed textile products. <P>SOLUTION: The method for dyeing animal fiber includes (1) a step of depositing silver onto animal fiber such as wool or silk and (2) a step of steaming the resultant animal fiber. Alternatively, the method includes, in addition to the steps (1) and (2), a step of treating the animal fiber with an aqueous solution of 2-mercaptoethanesulfonic acid salt following the step (1).
