PURPOSE: A methacrylic resin is provided to have excellent thermal stability by minimizing unsaturated double bonds in chain ends, to have single decomposition behavior, and to have high flowability to a linear methacrylate based resin. CONSTITUTION: A methacrylic resin comprises an alkyl methacrylate unit, and manufactured by using mercaptan, and lactam as a coupling initiator, the weight average molecular weight(Mw) is 50,000-500,000 g/mol, and the decomposition temperature by thermo gravimetric analysis(TGA) is 370°C or higher. The methacrylic resin is a copolymer of 70-100 weight% of alkyl methacrylate, and 0-30 weight% of vinyl monomer. A manufacturing method of the methacrylic resin comprises a step of polymerizing monomers comprising alkyl methacrylate by using mercaptan and lactam as an initiator.
