The device (100) has connectors (110,120,135,140) that are provided for electrical connection to a voltage source. A sampling device determines a voltage that is applied to the connectors. A controllable load changes an electrical power consumption of the device at the connectors. A control device (160) determines a degradation of the electrical connection when voltages are applied to the connectors at different electrical power consumptions. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method for detecting degradation of electrical connection between voltage source and connectors of electrical device; and (2) computer-readable data carrier storing computer program for detecting degradation of electrical connection between voltage source and connectors of electrical device.
