ULTRA THIN TYPE BACK LIGHT UNIT ABLE LOCAL DIMMING

PURPOSE: An ultra thin type backlight unit for local dimming is provided to partially perform local dimming using a light guide plate by an edge lighting type. CONSTITUTION: Air gaps are formed between sub light guide plates of a light guide plate. The sub light guide plates are arranged on a backlight unit surface in a matrix type. A plurality of LEDs(110) are installed on one side or both sides of the light guide plate. Materials are formed between the sub light guide plates. The materials have a lower refractive index than the refractive index of the sub light guide plates.
