The heat exchanger (1) has a set of stacked plates (2), circulating fluid e.g. exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) gas or air, that is to be cooled, and a cooling fluid i.e. coolant such as water and glycol, provided in two independent circuits defined by the plates in alternating layers. All or part of the set of plates are provided with raised edges (20) defining a flow channel for the cooling fluid by cooperation with other adjacent plates. The edges of the plates are arranged to allow the cooling fluid to enter and/or leave the flow channel. Each plate is provided with corrugations.
