<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multi-hop communication equipment and a multi-hop communication system that provide low power consumption, redundancy, and a capability of stable high-speed communication, by applying optical communication that makes an upper layer of a layer structure compliant with ZigBee (Registered mark) and makes a lower layer compliant with Ethernet (Registered mark), and by enabling a previously prepared network configuration to be preferentially constructed. <P>SOLUTION: Each router 120 stores, in advance, a path cost value for each communication path connected to the router 120 in a storing section 126.
