<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prime mover system capable of minimally constituting a connecting gear interposed between an auxiliary power device and a prime mover. <P>SOLUTION: This prime mover system 100 includes the prime mover 10 for a ship for rotating a propeller shaft 91, the auxiliary power device 30 for generating power and supplying the generated power to the prime mover 10, and the connecting gear 40 interposed between the prime mover 10 and the auxiliary power device 30 and transmitting the power from the auxiliary power device 30 to the prime mover 10. The prime mover 10 also includes a crankshaft 50 for transmitting the power generated by the prime mover 10 to the propeller shaft 91, and a rotary member 60 driven by the crankshaft 50 and having a shaft diameter smaller than that of the crankshaft 50.
