PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable image data to be efficiently transmitted.

SOLUTION: This technique comprises: generating a header including header information and an error detection code, the header information being composed of first frame information representing whether pixel data included in a payload is pixel data of the head line of one frame, second frame information representing whether the pixel data included in the payload is pixel data of the end line of one frame, first line information representing whether the pixel data included in the payload is data of effective pixels, and second line information representing the line number of a line composed of the pixel data included in the payload, and the error detection code being used for error detection of the header information; generating a packet whose payload includes pixel data corresponding to a single line constituting an image obtained through imaging and to which the header is attached; and outputting the packet. This technique can be applied to an imaging device having an image sensor and a DSP.
