The lock has a locking mechanism (2) consisting of a bolt or a hook which extends in relation to the front edge (3) of the sliding door to lock in a strike plate (5) on the upright (7) of the frame. It has a burglar proof housing (13) with an inner wall (14) and an outer wall (14A) which is parallel to the sliding door at the height of the front edge on either side of the locking mechanism. Once the door is closed the strike plate is also concealed by the walls. The inner and outer wall are joined by end walls (15, 15A). The strike plate is concealed in a groove in the rebate of the door frame. The inner and outer walls of the burglar proof housing are positioned on either side of the groove.
